The concept for this theme is Lap of the Gods with inspiration taken from the History show Vikings.

The concept will rely on the natural beauty and awe inspired by a local pine forest, moss tablecloths, floral centre pieces and candlelight. To create a hint of luxury and decadence, we will use gold tableware and fruit decorations.

The Five Senses

Sight Guests will be awed by the immensely tall pines and sense of the otherworld. Large bouquets of red and purple wildflowers fill the space. There is a grandness to everything, as if the Gods themselves walked amongst men.

Smell The smell of pine is strong and fills the air with its wafting scent, enveloping, pulling you deeper among the trees. It is intoxicating. There is also a hint of musk, a little sugary sweetness that is just on the edges of the senses.

Sound Strains of ethereal music waft above the sound of the very trees themselves shifting in the breeze.

Touch The pine needles provide a springy bed for them to walk on. The moss tablecloths feel alive beneath their fingers. Guests will feel the breathless touch against their skin as dancers move amongst them, paying homage to the Gods.

Taste As guests begin to dine, they are offered a sumptuous array of decadent foods.

The Story

Nature calls and into the pine forest we go. Lithe young men and women, half clothed and masked appear from the shadows to guide your guests to the ceremony. A path is cleared amongst the pine cones with candlelit lanterns directing them where to go. The shadows and the uneven path could make them wary, but the warm glow of candlelight and a path laid out in gold rose petals soothes them. As they walk deeper into the forest the guides melt into the shadows once more.  After the ceremony everyone is led deeper among the pines and you come to a dazzling candle lit enchantment. Small round tables have been set up in and around the trees. A net of fairylights are strung above you in the trees, filling the darkness with light. Moss covered table cloths line the center of each table and they are filled with extravagant red and purple wildflowers centrepieces. An array of candles fill the darkness around you with a warm soft light, and a light mist laps at your heels. It feels as if you have stepped into another world, one where the Gods walk the earth to dine with you and your guests to celebrate your union.

As you enter the Reception space, the masked guides appear from the shadows to hand you and your guests a mask similar to their own. Now that you have joined the Gods, you can indulge in anonymity and decadence. As you put on your mask, you are presented with a platter of gold covered chocolates. Their heady cocoa scent fills your nose as you partake in the chocolate delight. As everyone takes their seats, strains of ethereal music waft around you as your friends and family share in their memories of you and your love.  Soon the quartet begin to play louder and more frantic, joined now by a compelling drum beat, there is a note of anticipation in the air. A soft touch and someone jumps and then laughs off to one side, then another from the back. Suddenly the space is filled with beautiful dancers, proclaiming this night for the Gods.
